Luke - 19.01.2016 02:22let's say the first number is x and the second y so x*y=540 and x+y=47 From the second equation we have x=47-y , then insert it into the first equation: (47-y)*y=540 47y - y^2-540=0 y^2-47y+540=0 D=47^2 - 4*1*540=49 x= 47+-\/49 / 2 x= 20 or x= 27 if x=20 , then y=540/20=27 if x=27 , then y=540/27=20 Answer is 27 and 20.
